Corner Office Connections will give young professional (YP) members of MYPN the opportunity to get to know an established and involved leader in the Greater Manchester area.  YPs will have the chance to engage and learn from their mentors on their experiences (both good and bad), ask questions and build a mentoring relationship in a small, intimate group setting.  Mentees should expect to walk away from this program with the foundation of a mentoring relationship, more business acumen and a broadened network.

WHAT WILL THE PROGRAM LOOK LIKE?

Mentors will have a small group of up to 10 MYPN young professionals assigned to them for the year. You as a mentee will have the ability to choose one of these four leaders to be your mentor. The groups will be meeting for an hour-long lunch (Noon – 1:00pm), four times per year at the mentor’s place of business. MYPN will provide lunch for you.

Mentors will be offering their own insights, thoughts, and experiences at these meetings and will lead discussions with the group. Meetings will focus on the mentor’s background, how they came to accomplish what they have so far, and general business principles that have helped them along the way. Mentees are encouraged to bring general questions they have or topics at work or in their professional life they may be looking for advice on.

WHEN?

The lunches will be held on January 27, 2015, March 24, 2015, May 26, 2015 and September 22, 2015 at the mentor’s place of business (or other location as selected by the mentor). There is a $100 fee to participate in the program and MYPN will provide lunch for all four program days.  *These dates are subject to change to accommodate mentor’s schedules.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Any young professional member of MYPN that would like the opportunity to connect with their fellow MYPN members and learn from established CEOs within the community.  You as a mentee will be joining this program to learn and interact on an individual and small group level as a way to educate and improve yourself via the lessons learned from the mentor and the discussions and relationships that follow.

WHO SHOULD NOT APPLY?

Individuals that are not committed to the program for its duration (one year).

Individuals that seek financial gain from the program.  This is not to be used as a chance to drop your best sales pitch in order to win business from the mentor.

WHY SHOULD I APPLY?

Why not?! It’s tough getting access to top business leaders as a young professional just beginning your career. Their time is scarce and this program is the key to get into that corner office, ask them some questions, and build a relationship. Seize the opportunity to meet with these leaders, learn from their mistakes, act on their advice, and maybe someday become the mentor in this program instead of the mentee.
